Great interpretation! Imho i think the plastic sheet they take off him at the start is the veil. After they take it off he opens his eyes and can now see the spiritual. And Imho the tree represents the cross which is referred to as a tree somewhere in bible. But yr interpretation fits good as well. Whatever the case, he is holding into God. God bless!
